Doris Panos

Tracing back many generations, Doris Panos'' family was involved in the art of jewelry making. though her father was a dentist, all of her uncles were jewelers. Not surprisingly, Doris preferred diamonds over dentures. Therefore, it was inevitable that Doris follow the traditions and passion of her heritage.

While majoring in business and marketing at St. Johns University in New York, Doris began her exciting career apprenticing in the jewelry industry. Her passion for the art grew into an uncontrollable desire to learn the craft from beginning to end. For the next thirteen years she committed herself to learning everything there is to know about the jewelry business. she began by working at the bench and learning the intricate engineering techniques that are involved in the manufacturing process. From the beginning, she had a knack for making everything fit together properly. once she mastered the engineering side, she moved on to learning about diamonds and colored stones and their many aspects. Establishing her contacts and enriching her knowledge of stones and diamondsenabled her to master the gemological aspect of her trade. After three years of working in the diomond and colored stone market and having aquired the knowledge of production and gemology, she was ready for the retail and corporate ends.

In the mid-eighties while working in the New York''s Saks Fifth Avenue jewelry department, Doris was able to put her knowledge to work and to spark her charismatic sales approach. Her approach was so electrifying that she was asked to hold seminars where she taught her personal style to aspiring jewelry sales associates.

Doris moved on to other prestigious retail establishments where she was given the opportunity t create her own collection. After an astounding positive response to her unique style, she was encouraged to pursue her own individual career.

In 1993, Doris Panos Designs, Ltd. was established. In a very short period, Doris has earned the respect and admiration of her peers. Her distinctive style and versitle creations have landed her the reputation as a well-branded designer. Doris has since been honored with numerous awards for her excellence in design including JA Jewel awards back to back in 1997 and 1998, the AGTA 1999 Spectrum award and Town & Country/ Harper''s Bazaar Couture 1999 award for best design in the pearl category. Celebrating her 20th year in this industry, Doris continues to capture the essence and style of the women of today.
